When you’re trying to decide whether or not to bake your own wedding cake, consider what your time commitments will be like in the week leading up to the wedding. If you’re like most brides, you will most likely have your hands full greeting guests and in-laws; having your final dress fitting; finalizing the décor; and accommodating the last-minute surprises that tend to crop up during big events. (For instance, your DJ might get sick; your florist might run out of lilies; your caterers might not show; and family drama might brew.) Whatever happens, you’ll likely be too busy handling it to worry about stacking, frosting, refrigerating, and transporting your cake.
And speaking of transportation—If you’ve never tried driving a multiple-tier cake across town, then setting it up at the venue, keeping every bit of frosting as flawless as it originally was, you should probably leave it up to a professional. Take our word for it—delivering a wedding cake is much harder than it looks! In our opinion, your wedding day will be much better spent sipping prosecco while being pampered, than wincing at every speed pump and pothole in the road. You could, of course, always enlist a friend or relative, but come on—who wants that kind of pressure?

And since your cake will be displayed in photo albums forever, you might always be critical of your work for years to come! In our opinion, it just isn’t worth the stress and risk when you can just hand it off to a professional baker instead.
