Our Raleigh Baker Shares 6 Fun, Easy Treats to Bake During Quarantine

If you’re stuck at home by yourself during quarantine—or stuck at home with small children—you may be running out of ideas to keep yourself and/or them occupied. Why not take a stab at these classic, easy baking recipes? You’ll learn a new skill and get something sweet to snack on. Below are some of our favorite treats you can whip up at home.

Chocolate Banana Bundles

What to do with bananas that are on their way out? Wrap ‘em up in puff pastry and drizzle ‘em with chocolate. If you’ve already got butter and brown sugar in your pantry, those are the only ingredients you need to buy—unless you want to grab some vanilla ice cream to serve with them. Get the recipe here.

Cake Batter Blondies

When times are tough, add more sprinkles. This mantra has gotten us through many a crisis, and it’ll get us through this one, too. All you need to make these cake batter blondies are eggs, oil, yellow cake mix, milk, white chocolate chips, and sprinkles. Serve them immediately, or pop them in the freezer for a rainy day.

Easy Cherry Turnovers

All you need to make these easy cherry turnovers is a pack of frozen puff pastry dough, a can of cherry pie filling, and an egg white. If you want to really go the extra mile, you can make an icing out of powdered sugar and milk, or you can just grab some white icing at the store while you’re grabbing the dough. Assemble the ingredients, bake for 20 minutes, and you’ll wind up with your own crunchy, flaky, perfectly sweet cherry turnovers.

Frozen Banana Cereal Pops

Yep, we’re back on bananas again. We’re always looking for ways to use up ‘nanners that are a bit past their prime, and this colorful recipe fits the bill. Simply dip bananas in strawberry or vanilla yogurt, roll them in cereal (small, colorful cereals like Fruity Pebbles work best) and pop them in the freezer. It’s a cool, sweet treat that’s an acceptable low-cal substitute for ice cream.

Lemon Snowflake Cookies

Not everyone is a “chocolate person.” We are, but we don’t judge the less fortunate. If you’ve got a friend or relative who’s dessert-averse, lemon snowflake cookies are a zesty, tart treat they’re likely to prefer over sweeter fare. With only 4 ingredients, these are the perfect treat to whip up for a last-minute bake sale, or a party you just remembered is today. Get the recipe here.
